Louisville Takes the Title

As the 2013 NCAA basketball season came to a close it crowned its winner of the big dance.

The Louisville Cardinals proved that they were the best team in all of the land after successfully making it through this years field of 64.

The Cardinals, led by hall of fame coach Rick Pitino, earned the number one overall seed in the tournament after winning the Big East Championship back at the beginning of March…and the rest is history.

On their road to the title game the Cardinals had a very tasking schedule of powerhouse programs that attempted to stand in their way.

Teams like Oregon, Duke and Michigan are a couple of the strong opponents with rich basketball tradition, but even they were no test for the Cards in March.

Louisville’s 82-76 victory in the championship game marked 35th win on the season to just five losses, and their third national championship in school history. louis 1

The Cardinals played at their tempo throughout the whole tournament and were also able to control the glass, out rebounding each of their opponents on their way to cutting down the nets.

Although they will lose senior leader Peyton Siva next season, Louisville will reload as they do every season in hopes of consecutive title runs.
