I saw this Devils food cake recipe on epicurious.com and thought that it just looked delicious. I am a chocolate lover and anything chocolate, whether it be white, milk or dark chocolate is delicious. This cake is chocolate cake on top of chocolate frosting. Delicious! This recipe calls for you to make the frosting from scratch (always the best kind). Listed below is the ingredients to the recipe.
For cake layers:

  • 1/2 cup milk (not nonfat)
  • 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
  • 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

For frosting:

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
