Last week, the pop world was shocked when Justin Bieber’s tour bus was found to have marijuana and a stun gun in it following a police search. The police investigated after hearing complaints of “weed smoke,” and no arrests came out of the incident, but the interaction between police and touring artists has always been tumultuous.
Lil’ Wayne: arrested in 2007 after marijuana was discovered on his tour bus, along with a handgun that was licensed to his manager. Wayne went to prison for a year following the altercation.
Nelly: The St. Louis-based rapper had his tour bus stopped in Sierra Blanca, which involves a drive through border patrol. Police found heroin, weed, and a loaded gun, and one of Nelly’s people was arrested following the incident.
Willie Nelson: The grandpa of drug charges, Nelson wasstopped in Sierra Blanca in 2010, but has been in trouble for drugs in 1974, 1994, and 2006. Nelson has never served jail time for his stops, but his court appearance for the 1994 charge caused him to miss the Grammy awards.
