John Downen introduction post

My name is John Downen, and I am currently working toward majors in journalism and political science at Eastern.

Through this blog, I plan to cover the ongoing crises in Syria, namely US involvement in the region. I also hope to facilitate some debate on the Syrian civil war itself, including how different religious and ethnic groups complicate an already-complicated situation.

For starters, the link provided below provides good insight into how a country as young as Syria (67 years old) has devolved into civil war over the last two years, and the diplomatic consequences that might come with American intervention.
