While sitting out all last season was not the most popular decision according to the fans and media, Kevin Durant seems to think it was the best decision Derrick Rose could make, according to an ESPN report.
In an interview with a reporter from Comcast Sportsnet Chicago, Durant said Rose “looks better”. Durant was an off season workout partner with Rose.
“It was really good for him that he took the whole year off. A lot of people criticized him for it and really were upset about him not playing, but it was the best thing for him. I can tell because he looks better.”
Despite Rose missing all of last season, the Bulls still won 45 games, made the playoffs, and advanced to the second round where they then lost to the Miami Heat.
“He’s the MVP,” Durant said. “He’s a high-level player, and if you lose that, of course you’re not going to be as good as you were before.”
Rose said Sunday that his legs feel good after a busy summer of training. He expects to make his return to the court at Indiana on Oct. 5 in the Bulls’ preseason opener, which will be his first NBA game action in almost 18 months.
