6 Different Hawks Score in Opening Night Win

The Chicago Blackhawks picked up right where they left off last season with a 6-4 win over the Washington Capitols.

The Madhouse on Madison saw over 22,000 people come through the gates for the banner raising ceremony and the opening night game.

The Blackhawks became just the second team in six years to win their opener after winning the Stanley Cup the season before.

Washington scored three times on the power play but could not capitalize on a five on three advantage late in the third period.

The Blackhawks looked rusty on the penalty kill and gave up a hat trick to Washington center-ice man Mikhail Grabovski, but Cory Crawford was fantastic between the posts.

Brandon Bollig, Brandon Saad, Brent Seabrook, Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa, and birthday boy Johnny Oduya all scored as the Blackhawks successfully began their title defense.
