Captain Jonathan Toews scored three goals, his third career hat trick, as the Blackhawks captured a 6-5 victory over the Washington Senators
Toews scored his three goals in a fifteen minute period between the second and third periods, one at the 14:30 minute mark in the second, two in the first ten minutes of the third. The hat trick prompted this tweet from the Hawks official twitter page:
Back up goalie Nikolai Khabibulin was pulled in favor of Crawford in the second period. Trailing 4-3 going into the third period, the Hawks scored three unanswered goals and held off a late push from the Senators to lock up the win.
The Hawks out shot Ottawa 40-37 and continued their impressive play on the power play, scoring on 1 of their 2 opportunities.
The Hawks won their second game in as many nights after a 5-1 rout of the Wild on Monday.
