While Michal Handzus and Andrew Shaw work to come back from illness and injury, respectively, Jeremy Morin and Joakim Nordstrom may get another chance to prove themselves tonight against the Ducks.
Both of the Hawks regulars have not been ruled out by Coach Q, which would send the well traveled Morin and Nordstrom back up I-90 to Rockford.
Both men told Chicago Sun Times reporter Mark Lazerus that they are happy to have the opportunity to prove themselves.
“It means a lot,” Nordstrom told Lazerus. “I’m really happy to be here. It’s going to be fun.”
The well traveled Nordstrom made the team as a surprise coming out of camp and some think he can be a replacement for the traded Michael Frolik, a staple on the fourth line and penalty kill.
Coach Q has faith in the 21 year old, telling Lazerus that the idea behind sending Nordstrom down was to give him more experience on the penalty kill, an area the Hawks are in desperate need of help.
For now, the two well traveled prospects will have to wait and see what the future holds.
