The Knicks lost in overtime to the Sacramento Kings 106-101 Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden.

The Kings’ Jimmer Fredette led the team in scoring with 24, while Rudy Gay and Isaiah Thomas had 20 points apiece.

Carmelo Anthony scored 36 points for the Knicks. Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped in with 20 points.

The Knicks’ Iman Shumpert left in the third quarter with a sprained hip flexor.

The Knicks were without J.R. Smith who suffered a broken cheekbone last Saturday didn’t play because his protective mask did not fit properly.

New York is now 20-32 heading into All-Star break. This is making head coach Mike Woodson’s firing all but certain to happen by the time the Knicks hit the court again.

The Knicks’ will probably looking to make some trades, but highly rumored Shumpert for Denver Nuggets’ Kenneth Faried unlikely due to recent Shumpert’s injury.

Anthony and Hardaway Jr. will be the lone Knicks’ players participate in All-Star Weekend. Hardaway Jr. will be included in the Rising Starts Challenge on Friday, while Anthony will be playing the All-Star Game on Sunday.
