Knicks suffer two key losses

J.R. SmithThe New York Knicks might have finally put themselves out of playoff contention with losses to both the Wizards and Heat over the weekend.

The Knicks lost to the Wizards 90-89 at Madison Square Garden on Friday night.

Bradley Beal lead the Wizards with 28 points for the evening. John Wall helped out with 19 points and 9 assists, along with 7 turnovers.

New York was led by J.R. Smith’s 32 points. Amare Stoudemire chipped in 16 points. Carmelo Anthony strained his shooting shoulder early in the game and only scored 10 points while committing 10 turnovers.

Sunday afternoon the Knicks lost in Miami 102-99.

Lebron James led the Heat with 38 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Mario Chalmers and Chris Bosh had 15 and 14 points apiece.

Smith led the team in scoring again with 32 points and ten made 3-pointers. Raymond Felton had 15 points and 5 assists on the afternoon. Anthony had another weak scoring output with only 13 points.

This was the second consecutive game that J.R. Smith scored of 30 points. He also set a new NBA record for 3-pointers made in a three game span with 24.

The Knicks now trail the Atlanta Hawks by three games in the loss column with four games left in the season.

New York will get four days off before heading to Toronto to play the Raptors on Friday, then hosting the Chicago Bulls Sunday night.
