NBA kicks Sterling out

Adam SilverNBA commissioner, Adam Silver fined Los Angeles Clippers owner, Donald Sterling $2.5 million and banned him from any association with the NBA on Tuesday afternoon.

After audio of the Sterling surfaced of him making numerous racist comments about minorities, mainly black players this past weekend Silver felt it was time for him to be exiled and never be allowed back.

“I will urge the Board of Governors to exercise its authority to force the sale of the team,” Silver said. “I will do everything in my power to ensure that that happens. I fully expect to get the support I need from the other NBA owners,” said Silver at the press conference.

The $2.5 million fine was the most the NBA is allowed to fine an owner under its bylaws.

Kurt Helin of NBC Sports reported today that Sterling would attempt to block the sale of his team in the situation that the other 29 owners vote him out by suing the NBA. The owners are set to meet about voting Sterling out next Thursday.
