Steve Prefontaine once said, “Success isn’t how far you got, but the distance you traveled from where you started.”
This quote is so inspirational. To me, it means that your achievements won’t matter if you got to them the easy way. Hard work and success is so much more satisfying when you worked your butt off to get there. You got through the pain, the doubts, the discouragement, and you proved to yourself that you could do it.
That’s what running does for me. I prove to myself every time I run that I CAN do it. Every time I run a mile farther than I have before, it makes me feel so good about myself. Even when it hurts, keep pushing until you can’t take another step. That’s when you know you did it; that’s when you know you did the very best you could, and the rest doesn’t matter.
